Lightning strikes or local grid flickers can “trip” the safety sensors on your motherboard, making the laptop appear dead.
1. The “Hard Reset” (Static Discharge)
This is the “magic fix” for 50% of dead laptops.
- Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if internal, disconnect the battery cable).
- Press and hold the Power Button for 60 full seconds. This drains all electricity from the capacitors.
- Plug in only the charger (leave the battery out) and try to turn it on. If it boots, your motherboard was just “clogged” with static.
2. Check the “Brick”
Look at the LED on your power adapter. If it’s blinking or off, the surge killed the charger (which is a safety feature to protect the laptop). Try a universal charger to see if the laptop lives.
