A clean install is the “nuclear option”—it wipes everything and starts fresh. It is the only way to ensure 100% of bugs, viruses, and bloatware are gone.
Step 1: Create the Media
- Grab a blank 8GB+ USB drive.
- Download the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft’s official site.
- Follow the prompts to “Create installation media for another PC.”
Step 2: Booting from USB
- Plug the USB into your laptop and restart.
- Immediately tap your Boot Menu Key (usually F12, F10, or ESC).
- Select the USB drive from the list.
Step 3: The Install
- When asked for a product key, click “I don’t have a product key.” Windows will activate automatically once you go online (it’s tied to your motherboard).
- Choose “Custom: Install Windows only (advanced).”
- Delete all partitions on your “Drive 0” until it says “Unallocated Space,” then click Next.
